Practically, you have time to complete verification by the date of your next Confirmation Statement submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What are the consequences of not complying with the new rules?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Without verification, you will not be able to submit documents to Companies House.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company could even be struck off the register.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A director who fails to comply risks disqualification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration of a new company may be rejected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sound serious? That\u2019s because it is. The UK government aims to increase transparency and make it more difficult for \u201cshell\u201d companies or entities set up for fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to verify your identity?<\/strong><br>You have three options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Via GOV.UK One Login<\/strong> (the simplest and free)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using the GOV.UK ID Check app (photo of ID + face scan)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)<\/strong> \u2013 e.g., an accounting firm. This option is often paid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In person at a post office.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once verification is successful, you will receive a personal Companies House code \u2013 this will be the key for all official filings. Your accountant will not be able to submit any documents to Companies House without this code. Remember to provide it to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why it\u2019s worth doing now<\/strong><br>Although the requirement officially starts in autumn 2025, it\u2019s wise to go through the process already.<br>By doing so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You won\u2019t leave it until the last minute,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll have peace of mind when submitting documents,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You avoid the risk of blocks and penalties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check today whether your documents are still valid and whether your details, such as date of birth, are correct at Companies House.
